Ticket Terms

1. General

These terms and conditions apply to all events organized by Janteloppet AS, including but not limited to skiing races and running events (collectively referred to as “Events”).

By registering yourself or another person for an Event organized by Janteloppet AS, you accept these terms and conditions in full. If you register another person, you are responsible for ensuring that person has been made aware of and accepts these terms and conditions.

2. Binding Registration

Registration for Events organized by Janteloppet AS is binding. The obligation to pay arises upon registration, and you will be added to the participant list.

Paid entry fees, licenses, or any other products will not be refunded in the event of inability to participate, regardless of the reason, including illness or injury.

3. Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven) § 22 (b), the right of withdrawal does not apply to tickets for events with a specific date. By completing your registration, you acknowledge that no right of withdrawal applies.

4. Cancellation Insurance

Janteloppet AS may offer optional cancellation insurance through a third-party provider at the time of registration. Details of coverage, terms, and pricing will be presented during the registration process.

Participants who do not purchase cancellation insurance are encouraged to arrange their own travel and event insurance to cover any losses arising from inability to participate.

5. Sale or Transfer of Bib Numbers

Bib numbers are personal and non-transferable. For safety and insurance reasons, it is strictly prohibited to allow another person to participate using your bib number or in your name.

Any participant found to have transferred their bib number may be disqualified and banned from future Events. Janteloppet AS accepts no liability for any person participating under another participant’s bib number.

6. Assumption of Risk and Liability

Participation in Events organized by Janteloppet AS involves inherent risks, including but not limited to risks associated with physical exertion, weather conditions, terrain, other participants, and the natural environment.

By registering for an Event, the participant acknowledges and voluntarily assumes all such risks and agrees that Janteloppet AS, its employees, volunteers, sponsors, and partners shall not be liable for any personal injury, death, loss, or damage suffered by the participant, except where caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Janteloppet AS.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they are adequately prepared and equipped for the Event, including appropriate clothing, footwear, nutrition, and hydration.

7. Health Declaration and Physical Fitness

By registering for an Event, the participant confirms that:

  1. They are in adequate physical health to participate in the Event;
  2. They have no medical condition that would make participation dangerous to themselves or others;
  3. They will not participate under the influence of alcohol or substances that may impair their ability to participate safely;
  4. They will follow all instructions given by the organizers, marshals, and medical personnel during the Event.

Janteloppet AS reserves the right to refuse or withdraw participation from any individual who, in the reasonable opinion of the organizers or medical personnel, is unfit to participate.

8. Emergency Medical Consent

By registering for an Event, the participant authorizes Janteloppet AS and its appointed medical personnel to arrange and provide emergency medical treatment on their behalf if the participant is unable to consent at the time. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid, evacuation, and transport to a medical facility.

Any costs arising from emergency medical treatment shall be borne by the participant.

9. Minimum Age and Parental Consent

Minimum age requirements may vary by Event and distance. Specific age requirements are published on the Event registration page.

For participants under the age of 18, registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian, who by doing so accepts these terms and conditions on behalf of the minor and assumes full responsibility for the minor’s participation.

Parents or legal guardians are responsible for ensuring the minor is physically fit to participate and holds any required license or insurance.

10. Insurance and License

10.1 Skiing Events

A ski license or single-event license issued by the Norwegian Ski Federation (Norges Skiforbund) is NOT included in the Janteloppet ticket. It is the participant’s (or guardian’s) own responsibility to hold a valid ski license.

All persons between 13 and 69 years of age (for ages 70–79 it is voluntary) who are members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme must hold a valid ski license. The ski license includes sports insurance.

Foreign participants who are not members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme must sign an Athletes Declaration when collecting their bib number.

Children up to 12 years of age are automatically insured through the children’s sports insurance (barneidrettsforsikringen) until the day they turn 13.

If you already hold an annual license, you do not need to purchase a single-event license.

Single-event licenses can be purchased at: https://www.skiforbundet.no/om/skilisens/forsikringen/

10.2 Running Events

The mandatory one-time fee of NOK 50 (for participants aged 13–80) is included in the following Janteloppet Summer Edition tickets: race pass and full pass.

A single-event license provides insurance coverage for the athletics event in which you are participating, including both track and field competitions and running events held outside the track.

Please retain your receipt and ticket in the event of an injury and any subsequent insurance claim. If injured file claim here: https://www.idrettshelse.no/next/page/Idrettens-skadetelefon

10.3 General

Clubs registering multiple participants must verify that all participants hold a valid license before the Event.

11. Governing Sports Federation Rules

Skiing events are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of Norges Skiforbund (the Norwegian Ski Federation).

Running events are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of Norges Friidrettsforbund (the Norwegian Athletics Federation).

Participants must comply with all applicable federation rules and any additional rules set by Janteloppet AS for the Event. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

12. Personal Data

In order to provide high-quality result lists and offer the best possible service, we collect and store necessary personal data such as name, gender, date of birth, address, phone number, and email address.

By registering, you consent to necessary personal data being stored to carry out the Event, your name, age, city, and country being published on participant and result lists, photographs and video recordings being taken during the Event and used on our websites, social media, TV, marketing materials, and result services, and receiving newsletters from Janteloppet AS (with the option to unsubscribe at any time).

Such content may also be made available to media and third parties in accordance with agreements with the organizer.

14. Changes or Cancellation of Events

14.1 Changes to the Event

Janteloppet AS reserves the right to change the course route, start time, distances, or other necessary conditions where deemed necessary for participant safety, due to weather or environmental conditions, due to requirements or instructions from authorities, or due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Participants are not entitled to a refund of entry fees for changes made under the circumstances described above.

14.2 Cancellation Before Race Day

In the unlikely event that an Event must be cancelled before race day due to circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather, government orders, lack of required permits, or public health requirements), Janteloppet AS may retain up to 50% of the entry fee to cover costs already incurred. The remaining 50% will be refunded to participants.

Administration fees, licenses, and other purchased products will not be refunded.

14.3 Cancellation on Race Day

If an Event is cancelled on race day due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or force majeure, no refund of the entry fee will be provided.

14.4 Travel and Accommodation

Janteloppet AS is not responsible for any travel, accommodation, or other costs incurred by participants in connection with the Event, regardless of whether the Event is changed, postponed, or cancelled.

15. Force Majeure

Janteloppet AS may cancel or postpone an Event at short notice (defined as 45 days or less before the Event) due to force majeure. Force majeure includes, but is not limited to, natural disasters, extreme weather, pandemics or public health emergencies, government orders or restrictions, official recommendations from authorities, police, or other public bodies, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, fire, or floods.

In the event of cancellation due to force majeure, entry fees, licenses, and other fees will not be refunded. The Event will not be rescheduled but will take place as normal the following year.

16. Reduction in the Number of Participants

Janteloppet AS reserves the right to reduce the number of participants in order to carry out the Event in accordance with requirements from health authorities or other public bodies.

Starting places will in such cases be allocated based on the time of confirmed registration. Participants who lose their starting place due to a reduction will have their entry fee refunded. Other fees will not be refunded.

17. Protests

Any protest regarding conditions during the Event or results must be submitted in writing to the race office within the timeframe specified in the applicable sports federation rules.

A protest fee may be required, as specified in the Event information. The protest fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

18. Payment

We accept payment via the following providers: Vipps, Stripe, PayPal, and Klarna. All prices are stated in Norwegian Kroner (NOK) and include any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.

19. Other Provisions

We strive for accurate information but reserve the right to correct any errors in event descriptions, pricing, or other published information.

Janteloppet AS reserves the right to make minor changes to these terms and conditions. Changes take effect no earlier than 30 days after notification to registered participants. Material changes will be communicated via email or on the Event website.

20. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with Norwegian law.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts.
